Our History

Designed in the mid-90s by the designer Fulvio Bani under the supervision of the architect Fernando Grattirola, Valtellina Golf officially began its activity in May 1999. Born from the bet of a group of sponsors passionate about golf, the Club has contributed significantly to the diffusion of golf in the province of Sondrio, gathering and welcoming new players every year. The philosophy adopted was fundamental in this: no obligation to subscribe to a share or non-repayable share and application of specific concessions to beginners for a free and gradual approach to golf.

In addition to being a welcoming club in which to practice golf and stay in the company of friends, Valtellina Golf has immediately enriched the tourist offer of the Valley and enhanced the environmental and landscape characteristics of a naturalistic context of rare beauty: a stone’s throw from Sondrio, on the banks of the Adda River, surrounded by the terraced vineyards of the Rhaetian Alps and the luxuriant woods of the Orobie, stands out against the backdrop of the white Adamello massif and the granite peaks of Disgrazia.

In 2007 Valtellina Golf hosts the 3rd Lombard Professional Championship, and the appreciation of nationally and internationally renowned players convinces the Club to undertake an expansion project from 9 to 18 holes, an operation that will place the course among the most important and fascinating of the national territory. After the acquisition of the areas intended to accommodate the new course, the first earthmoving works began in autumn 2009 and the 18 holes were inaugurated in record time on 16 October 2010.
